Technology Integration Resources

Integration Technology Units and Lesson Plans - Technology is a critical part of student learning; they will be expected to know and use technology throughout their lives. Teachers can browse units and lesson plans that have infused everyday lesson plans with technology components that excite students and build their skills.

Internation Society for Technology in Education maintains database of searchable units and lessons. These multidisciplinary units and lessons address content standards from two or more subject areas while addressing the National Education Technology Standards (NETS) for student performance indicators. Searable by title, keyword, grade, or subject. Currently forty four lessons are available, though limited there is coverage of common research lessons such as weather, clouds, animals etc.

Technology Integrated Lesson Plan Database: This collaborative project between Northern State University's teacher education program and several K-12 school districts in northeastern South Dakota. It provides an opportunity for preservice teachers and cooperating teachers to work together to design new integrated technology lessons and to infuse existing lesson plans with technology. These units and lessons are reviewed by a team of k-12 teachers and university educators and twenty were chosen for the website.

Technology Integration Resources: The K-6 technology-integrated units were developed for use by Kent School District teachers, many of whom may just recently have acquired the technology in their buildings or classrooms required for these units. They were designed with teachers just beginning with technology in mind as a way of providing completed units directly correlated with current KSD curriculum. Many units also have extensions and are also very appropriate for those teachers already using technology in their classrooms. Each unit focuses on a curriculum topic combined with technology that meets the KSD technology standards at that grade level.

Integrated Technology Lesson Plans: This Webliography has twenty four links to a individual lesson plans and a variety of other resources that such as Personal Energy Meter where students can; examine their energy use, tally up the costs in dollars, examine the energy impact, and think of ways to save. Or the Plan a Trip to Anywhere where students can plan a trip to a country of their choice, learn and communicate for that country, and budget for their trip.
>br> Examing Role Playing: Personally I love lessons that feel relevant and real-world, these lessons allow students ro role play real-life scenarios.

This article by Ted McCain of Maple Ridge Secondary School offers examples and professional observations of using role play to further student understanding.

Science teachers will love the information on the how to use role playing to teach science. The Starting Point project is exploring the ability of on-line resources to catalyze improvements in undergraduate teaching. Our goal is to develop a resource that intimately integrates pedagogy with teaching resources and fully supports a virtual community of educators. We attempt to bridge the gap between information about teaching methods and the everyday experiences of geoscience faculty by providing geoscience specific arguments and examples. In every case, we try to provide all of the information needed for a faculty member or graduate student to make an informed decision about the methodology that they use in a particular teaching situation, and to implement a technique easily and well.

Need a Unit Design Plan that helps take in all these considerations, try this user friendly planning sheet to organize your thoughts where integrating technolgy in your lessons.
