Mrs. Koralewski our fifth grade teacher and our school librarian Mrs. Damon conducted a collaborative project to study hermit crabs. Students engaged in several learning activities under the guidance of both teachers over the course of a week. Students conducted a careful observation of the hermit crabs and then recorded both their observations and their wonderings. Students then rotated to stations gathering information, creating diagrams, and researching their wonderings. Student then viewed a selection from "Planet Earth: The Deep Ocean" and viewed amazing footage of spider crabs and discussed the role of crabs in the ecosystem.
