Arrival Procedures:
To ensure the safety of all students and families during arrival, Oakland will be shifting our arrival procedures beginning Tuesday, September 2nd. We kindly ask all families to follow the procedures below carefully and consistently.
Breakfast:
Students who would like to eat breakfast in the morning should arrive at school by 7:35am. Breakfast is available in the cafeteria and families are welcome to join their child for breakfast until it is time for them to line up. Students and families will be allowed to enter through the main doors and go to the cafeteria for breakfast. Families will be allowed to accompany students for breakfast, but will be asked to leave once their student has finished eating. Once students finish eating, students will remain in the cafeteria until it is time to line up at 7:45 am.
Playground:
Students who choose to eat breakfast will not be allowed to go outside to play on the playground.
Family Wish Well
Students who select not to eat breakfast will be allowed to stay in the playground areas with family and friends until 7:45am. At this time, the whistle will blow and students will be welcomed through the main doors for class. Families will be allowed to accompany their students inside up to the intersection of the first two hallways (across the main office) .This will be the in building Kiss and Go spot to send your student to a positive start to their morning!
ECE Drop Off:
ECE students and families will need to be signed in at the half brick wall in the playground area. Teachers will have their sign-in folders ready and Paraprofessionals will walk students into class. Parents will not be allowed to accompany their student past the ECE playground gate. Kiss and Go at the gate so your student can have a positive start to their morning!
Kiss & Go Lane:
Parents who are utilizing the Kiss & Go drop off lane should follow the directions of the crosswalks and staff on duty. Please do not park in the Kiss & Go lane. This should be a quick good-bye to ensure the smooth transition and movement of traffic. Please look out for students and families who may be walking through the crosswalk and parking lot.
Dismissal:
If you need to pick up your student before the end of the day, please call the office and schedule the pickup before 2:30 PM. After 2:30, we are preparing for dismissal and cannot release students early. All students are released at 2:50 PM, and families can wait outside for their child at that time.
Visitors:
Families who need to purchase uniforms, speak with administration, or set up a meeting with their child’s teacher will be permitted to enter the building and check in at the office. Families will no longer be permitted to enter the hallways without a visitor badge after the start of the school day.
We thank you for your continued support and protecting our students!
