Empowering Black Families – Strategies for Navigating the Colorado Education System

In collaboration with Black Parent Network, FACE University is hosting a 4 part virtual series- Navigating the School District.

Our goal?  To empower Black families with the knowledge and skills necessary to navigate the complexities of the Colorado education system effectively. All DPS families & staff are welcome to attend. We will be giving away tickets to Denver Children’s Museum, History Colorado, and Museum of Nature and Science!!

  1. Tuesday, April 2nd, 5:30 – 7 pm: Session 1: Key Components
  2. Monday, April 15th, 5:30 – 7 pm: Session 2: History, Challenges, and Opportunities
  3. Tuesday, April 30th, 5:30 – 7 pm: Session 3: Advocacy, Resources, and Support
  4. Monday May 13th, 5:30 – 7 pm: Session 4: Educational Policies, Practices, and Next Steps

IN PERSON Multiple Dates: Family Wellness Fest – This is a Conference/Resource fair where families will have a choice of 4 45 minute sessions about family wellness. Each session will be repeated two times and there will be resources at the resource fair for all of these contents. The sessions are: Restorative Practices, Social Emotional Learning, Bullying Prevention, and Substance Abuse. There will also be a resources fair of DPS and community resources in a larger space. There is childcare, food and giveaways. Please see the Flyer linked here and attached.
