Dear Oakland Elementary Families and Community,
As we prepare to launch a new school year, I want to share an important leadership update and highlight the strong support systems in place at Oakland.
Gabriela Quiroga-Beck, who has served the Oakland community as a teacher, leader, and principal for more than 11 years, will be transitioning into a new role as a Principal on Special Assignment within the Elevate Schools Network. In this new position, she will support other schools in the network, helping strengthen instructional planning and leadership development. While she will no longer be supporting Oakland directly, her impact on the school community runs deep, and we’re incredibly grateful for the years of care, commitment, and leadership she has given to Oakland.
We are also excited to welcome Dr. Evelyn Cruz as Interim Principal. Dr. Cruz is a bilingual, experienced school leader who brings a strong commitment to academic excellence, student well-being, and family partnership. She is deeply connected to our community and brings a warm, inclusive approach to school leadership that aligns closely with Oakland’s values.
Oakland remains part of the Elevate Schools Network and will receive full wraparound support from our team. Dr. Angelina Walker, a seasoned school leader and school improvement partner, will serve as Oakland’s dedicated network partner and will work closely with Dr. Cruz and the school team to ensure a strong and successful year.
