Welcome Back Oakland Families!

I hope you enjoyed your summer with family and friends. We are thrilled to welcome all of you back to a year filled with learning and growing. I also hope you are relaxed, recharged and ready to start a new school year. I am so delighted that you are part of our amazing Oakland School Family where we value your positive energy, collaboration, and dedication to your children’s success. 

I am honored, grateful and excited to continue this journey with you and your children. I am excited and eager to continue to bring my skills as an educational leader to Oakland Elementary and to work with you as a partner in education to ensure your children’s success. In addition, I would like to continue building strong relationships with all of you throughout the year. 

This year we will focus on school safety, the Oakland values to develop character, the use of data to drive instruction, and providing consistent implementation of the curriculum in a rigorous manner so that we can continue to increase students’ achievements.

Back to School Night Presentation and Ice Cream Social:

I would like to invite you to attend our Back to School Night Presentation and Ice Cream Social:

• Aug. 15th  from 4:30 – 6:00 pm. at Oakland Elementary.
  • This will be a great time to strengthen our Oakland community, meet teachers and other families, and learn about the upcoming school year. I hope to see each of you!

Important Information:

As we begin to plan for the 2024-25 school year, I would like to share some upcoming changes. 

School Calendar and Hours

• Please take a look at our School Calendar for the next school year. Days highlighted in yellow are Oakland Professional days  – no classes for students. Please take note of these days to make the necessary arrangements for your students.  
• Our school day will be from 7:35am – 2:50pm from Monday to Friday.
  • Students should arrive no earlier than 7:35 am each day.  All students will have the opportunity to eat breakfast as part of DPS’s Breakfast in the Classroom program. 
  • Our tardy bell will move up to 7:45 am.  If your student arrives after 7:45 am, they will need a tardy slip from the front office. Please bring your student in time to start instruction at 7:45am.
  • Students will be considered late if they arrive at 7:50 am. they will need a tardy slip from the front office.

Discovery Link

• Discovery Link will be available again next year for families who need additional after-school support.  We will also have different Enrichment programs throughout the school year. More information will be shared with all families soon.

School Uniforms

• School Uniforms: Uniforms are mandatory at Oakland. The uniforms will be sold in the school office starting August 1st, and can be purchased through the Parent Portal. Students who do not arrive at school in uniform will be sent to the office to change.

Registration

• Registration can be done online through the Parent Portal (recommended) or in the school office on Wednesday August 7 from 8-2 or Thursday August 8 from 12-6. 

We will have our school schedule and student’s supply list posted on Facebook and on the Oakland website.
