Hola, My name is Flor Suarez and I am a bilingual school psychologist who is assigned full time at Oakland Elem. I have been in DPS since 2003 and this is my third year here at Oakland. I primarily work with the students in the MIA classrooms and Model 1. I am also one of the coordinators for 504 plans and I am a member of the attendance team this year. I don’t have a phone in my office yet but I am located in room 111 in case you want to stop by to say hi.
On a personal level, I am originally from Lima Peru and I moved to Denver in 2002 to go to grad school at CU Denver. I have two HS kids, a dog, and a cat. In my free time I enjoy traveling, reading, watching comedy movies, and dancing. I am very happy to be back in this community and find new and familiar faces. Let’s do this.
My name is Claire Carrera (she/her/hers), and I am looking forward to being a part of your team! I was born in Ecuador, grew up in New Jersey, went to undergrad at the University of Scranton, and am enrolled at the University of Oregon. Activities I enjoy are watching WNBA games (go lady liberties!), going on walks, eating tasty food, and going to museums.
Now, I want to take the opportunity to share my role as a school psychologist with you. My main goal is to be a supportive, accessible, and helpful resource to you all. As a consultant, I have many resources to offer, and at the same time, I am looking forward to hearing about other strategies with which I am unfamiliar that were helpful to you. I hope to share different evidence-based practices and interventions that will address the unique needs we may face. When exchanging ideas or addressing challenges, I will often use an ecological framework and a problem-solving model.
Please feel free to reach out to me via email or stop by to chat. Regarding emails, I will be checking them Monday-Friday from 8 am-5 pm. If I do not respond within 48 hours, please feel free to contact me again.
My name is Michelle Link (she/her/hers) and I am the School Social Worker at Oakland this year. I am here every day from Monday through Friday. My room number is room 112. I help support students with social/emotional needs as well as provide resources for families as needed.
I am married with no children (maybe someday) and I have 2 nieces and 1 nephew. I grew up in the military and we lived in a lot of places. I have lived in 3 different countries. I enjoy swimming, touring mountain towns, puzzles, watching football and soccer games, and trying new coffee shops. If you have any questions please feel free to reach out!
