My name is MaElena Mendoza, and I am the ELA-S First Grade Teacher here at Oakland. I graduated from UNC ( University of Northern Colorado for Urban Education) with a Degree of Early Childhood: Teacher Education Licensure (Ages Birth-8) B.A. My education continued at UNIR University where I graduated with an Master in Didactics of the Language in Early Childhood Education and Primary Education.
I was born and raised in Mexico (Zacatecas, Mexico), and I moved to Denver in 2001 with my husband and my daughter.
This is my 5th year at Oakland and the students are by far my favorite part. The best thing about being an educator at Oakland is that each day is a new opportunity to be better than the day before.
When I’m not teaching, I love to spend time with my husband, children, and friends.
